Shirley A. Weaver Ilgen ("Mam-Maw"), 75, of Potters Mills, PA, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on September 2, 1936, in Loganton, PA, to the late Robert and Faye (Wagner) Weaver. She met her future husband, Lloyd Ilgen, in 1954 while a senior at the Sugar Valley Area High School. They began dating after her graduation and were married on December 19, 1954. They immediately set up residence in Potters Mills, PA, where they lived until her death. After her marriage, she worked at Gettig Techonologies in Spring Mills and then at the Centre Hall Elementary School, but for most of her life, her primary and best-loved "job" was being a full-time housewife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite activities included gardening (especially her flowers, particularly her marigolds); Yahtzee; mini-golf; shopping; music; traveling (especially her trip to Germany); and "feeding people" (i.e., cooking good old German comfort food and baking for everyone!) Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family and attending her children''s - and then grandchildren''s - activities
In addition to her husband of 57 years, Lloyd Ilgen, who survives at home, she is also survived by three children: Marvin of Howard, PA; Dennis (Belinda) of Greeley, CO; and Patricia Corbett Hamel (Karl "Mike") of Pleasant Gap, PA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Patrick W. Corbett, III, Esquire, who moved back to
the area several years ago to live with his grandparents as their primary caretaker, and Daniel Corbett of Pleasant Gap, PA, who also moved back to the area to be close to his grandparents and also help with their needs as they aged. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brandon Ilgen of Alaska and Sean Ilgen of Colorado, as well as numerous step-grandchildren. Other survivors include her siblings: Donna Miller of Jersey Shore, PA; Earl (Liz) Weaver and Allen (Donna) Weaver, of Loganton, PA; and Roland (Lana) Weaver of Mill Hall, PA; 40+ nieces and nephews and their families - many of whom still reside in the Sugar Valley area.

She is also survived by her dear cats, especially her beloved Brie and Cheddar. Shirley blessed others with life as an organ donor just as she blessed everyone who knew her in life.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by eight siblings: five brothers - Harold, Robert, Elmer, Russell, and Richard "Dick" Weaver, and three sisters - Ruth Naso, Grace Courtney, and Irene Robb.

I was saddened to learn of Shirley's death so shortly after visiting with her at the Ilgen Reunion. She seemed to be well as we talked. Life is full of surprises and this one is an example. She spoke of the family and Lloyd as she talked about the garden etc. Remember all the good things of her life. Bless the entire family as you work thru her passing.

As the former exchange student of Shirley and Lloyd the passing-away of Shirley saddened me a lot. It took me and my family some days to really realize it. I am glad, I got a chance to talk with her a month ago by phone, even though I would have never expected it that she will pass away soon. I am very thankful to her to let me stay at her house during this one year. Shirley was a wonderful host mom during my stay in the US and I was always glad to talk to her on the phone afterwards. Let her rest in peace!
