Obituary

Betty L. Yearick, 83 of Howard, entered into the presence of her Lord on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born in Orviston on September 9, 1925 the daughter of the late Roy W. & Relda Heaton Lomison. She married Robert D. "Ick" Yearick on June 20, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1993.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Nancy D. Swan and husband Jack of Lock Haven, Polly L. Nick and husband Earl of Williamsport, Patsy A. Rougeux and husband John of Howard, 3 sons; Daniel R. and wife Rose of Allentown, Terry W. and wife Marie of Spring Mills, and Robert L. and wife Holly of Howard. 3 sisters; Rebecca Kustanbauter of Maryland, Sarah Hinton of Enola, Jo Savits of Williamsport and 2 brothers; Don Lomison of Avis and David Lomison of Cogan Station. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Jacob Lomison and a sister; Patsy Straub and step-mother Mae Lomison and a grand-daughter Elizabeth Gettig.


Betty was a 1943 graduate of Howard High School. She had been employed at Erie Ceramics, Linden Labs, where she was awarded a patent on a Hyordsonic bath used in treating arthritic and joint pain patients in 1967. She then worked at Penn State until her retirement. She was an active member of the Howard Christian Church for 69 years.

She was actively involved in her childrens lives and her grandchildrens lives and all their activities. She was an excellent seamstress and great cook and above all a loving and very proud mother and grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at the Howard Christian Church, 367 Walnut St.,Howard, Pa. 16841 on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Lomison, her nephew, officiating. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
