Elaine E. Heaton, 94, of Howard, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2020 at her home. Born on August 11, 1926, in Marsh Creek, she was the daughter of the late Floyd T. Woomer & Dora E. Nyman. On September 27, 1951 at Pleasant Valley E.U.B. Church, she married Melvin F. Heaton. Melvin passed away on March 11, 1988.
Elaine is a 1944 graduate of Howard High School. She was a homemaker most of her life. She attended the Brethren in Christ Church & Summit Hill Wesleyan Church in Marsh Creek for many years.
Elaine enjoyed cooking, sewing, canning, washing clothes and hanging them outside on the clothes line. She strived to keep her home clean and in order, which was a chore at times with seven boys in the house. She loved her children and wanted the best for each of them. Family meant to the world to Elaine, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her five sons: Kevin L. Heaton of Howard, Doyle A. Heaton and his wife, Sarah, of Lewistown, Eugene F. Heaton of Howard, Murray R. Heaton of Howard, and Wesley K. Heaton and his wife, Judy, of Howard; three grandchildren: Eric Heaton, Tyler Heaton, and Luke Heaton, and by five great grandchildren: Candence, Kyla, Anna, Blake, and Grayson. She is also survived by one sister, Lois Bowes of Howard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by two sons: Neal D. Heaton and Glenn M. Heaton, five brothers: Darrel Woomer, Lester Woomer, Lee Woomer, Richard Woomer, and Ralph Woomer, and three sisters: Adeline Miller, Verda Haas, and Relda Lyons.
Due to the current pandemic, all services will be private. Elaine will be laid to rest beside her husband, Melvin, at the Fairview Cemetery in Boggs Twp.
The family would like to take this time to say THANK YOU to the UPMC in Home Hospice Unit that assisted in Elaine’s care. They are incredibly grateful for the care given to their mother and grandmother.
