James Franklin Lewis,75, of Howard, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home. He was born in Oil City on February 25, 1946 a son of the late Harold F. and Martha M. Burhen Lewis. On December 19, 1970 he was united in marriage to Deborah Corl.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army duiring the Vietnam conflict in Korea serving at the DMZ disarming landmines.
He graduated from Penn State with a degree in civil engineering and was employed by H.R.I. in State College where he retired in 2011 after many years of service. Jim was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Scottish Rite. He was an avid fisherman and was fortunate to have traveled along with his wife to fish in Alaska seven times. He was particularly fond of Sockeye fishing. He also loved hiking and hunting. However, his greatest enjoyment came from time spent with his family.
Along with his wife he leaves behind three daughters, Laurie (Shane) Hause of Danville, Gwen (Robert) Schillo of Sewickley, and Jamie (Scott) Etish of Ft. Washington, a brother, Robert (Phyllis) Lewis of Sisters, Oregon, and seven grandchildren, Kaleb, Ryan, Katie, Addison, Dylan, Ethan, and Oliver.
Private services will be held at the families convenience with burial at Schenck's Cemetery, Howard. Memorial contributions may be made to Centre Home Care, 2437 Commercial Boulevard, suite 6, State College,Pa. 16801, or to the American Cancer Society.
