Janice Louise (Houdeshell) Thompson, 82 of Howard, died surrounded by her children in Woodbridge, Virginia on Thursday, 10 February 2022. Born on September 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late George and Olive J. (Lucas) Houdeshell.
Janice was married on February 3, 1961, to the late Richard P. Thompson. She is survived by her five children: Rodney Thompson, Steven Thompson, Keith Thompson and Kathy Thompson of Howard; Kimberly Thompson of Woodbridge, Virgina and a grandchild, Andrew (Morgan) Thompson of Odon Indiana.
Janice was a 1956 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She was an active member of the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church and a skilled crocheter who supported the shoe box ministries annually by making numerous scarves.
Janice was a skilled homemaker who spent many hours canning and freezing vegetables from her gardens with her sons for neighbors and family members. Her most favorite times were spent on her front porch with her beloved grand dogs and family or travelling to Nashville, Las Vegas, and Dallas to see George Strait with her daughters or to many National Parks with her grandson.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc 135 Main Street, Howard.
Services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Terry Daugherty officiating. Janice will be laid to rest privately at Schenck’s Cemetery, in Howard at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard, PA 16841.
