John L. Yearick Sr. 71 of Julian, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his wife and children. John a son of the late Harry and E. Almeda Orr Yearick was born on May 24, 1939 in Bellefonte.
In 1957, he was a member of the first graduating class of Bellefonte Area High School. On August 6, 1971, John married Myma D. Mayes. His wife Myma, survives at their home in Julian. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by five daughters; Lisa Miller (James) and Anissa Pytel (Daniel) , both of Jullian, Trina Grant (Douglas) and April Saidana (Jay) both of Milesburg and Charity Chicko of Bellefonte, and two sons; John Yearick Jr.and MIchael Yearick (Brandy) both of Julian. Also surviving are three brothers; Harold Yearick (Pat) of Hulbersburg, George Yearick (Doris) of Bellefonte and Roy Yearick (Nan) of Mifflinburg and 14 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Dietz in 1970.
John began his working career farming at the Yearick family farm in Walker Twp. He then went to work for Erie Technological Products in State College, which later became Murata Erie; retiring with 38 years of service in 2001. After retiring John returned to farming in Julian. He was also a former taxi driver and milk and bakery delivery man. He was a lifetime member of the Eagle Head Hunting Camp and was also a member of the Army National Guard. John faithfully attended Brookside Wesleyan Church in Julian.
John enjoyed attending auctions, playing bingo and collecting International Tractors. However, what John enjoyed most was spending time with his family. His passing will leave a empty place in the hearts of his family and friends that loved him most.
A celebration of John''s life will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at Brookside Wesleyan Church at 7 p.m. with the Pastor Bo King officiating. John will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in John''s memory may be given to the Jesus Film Project, PO Box 6282222, Orlando, Fl. 32862-8222.
