Obituary

John D. Shuey Sr., 94, formerly of Milesburg, passed away on Thursday October 28, 2021 at The Oaks in Pleasant Gap. He was born in Lewistown on March 15, 1927 a son of the late Harry W. and Annabelle Moyer Shuey. On April 14, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernice Almeda Shultz. She preceded him in death.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and then served in the Army National Guard and Reserves. He was a member of the Milesburg  American Legion and a life member of the Bellefonte V.F.W. where he was a member of the honor guard firing squad for many years.

John was employed at Cerro Metals of Bellefonte for 40 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Runville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by twin daughters, Deborah ( James ) Wager and Dona Oberheim, a sister, Margaret Peters, and his companion of 30 years, Joan Long.  Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded by a daughter, Mary Anna Shuey, and a son, John David Shuey, Jr., and a brother, Harold Shuey

Memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans organization of donors choice. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
