Merle A. Peters “Chopper” of Howard passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at UPMC Altoona. He was born on September 3, 1952, in Lock Haven. On December 31, 1974, he married Madelene Kay Vonada who survives at home.
He was a graduate of Ben High School in 1970. Merle was employed at Bio Reference out of New Jersey. He previously worked for Robinson Lumber, Champion Parts and Confer Trucking.
Merle enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife and he always had a way to make you laugh. There was never a dull moment when he was around. There was nothing more important to him than his wife, kids and grandchildren.
Merle is survived by his wife Madelene and daughter, Merleen K. Reppert (Alan) of State College. He is survived by three grandchildren: Elizabeth D. Peters, Samantha M. Peters and Brenden O. Reppert. He is also survived by a sister Susan Lindsey and a brother Randy Peters.
He is preceded in death by his son, Marlin Peters and a brother, Barry Peters.
Visitation with family and friends will be on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services starting at 10am with funeral service to follow at 11am with Neva Seyler officiating. Burial will follow service at Schenck’s Cemetery in Howard.
