Richard " Dick" Alvin Meyer, Sr., 91, formerly of Lamar, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Haven Place, U.P.M.C., Lock Haven. He was born in Lamar on July 27, 1930, a son of the late Dean I. and Esther E. Bucher Meyer. On October 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Janice P. Ardry. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2011.
Dick was a graduate of Lock Haven High class of 1948.He was employed at Adam Dickey Garage in Lock Haven, Hammermill Paper Company, and the Clinton County Solid Waste Authority. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown, where he served as a council member, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher, as well as other committees. He also was a life member of the Nittany Valley Fire Company and served as a Porter Twp. Supervisor and as roadmaster.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 268 in Bellefonte, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Jaffa Shriners.
Dick is survived by a daughter, Glenda E. Hoy of Mill Hall, a son, Vaughn S. (Lisa) Meyer, Sr. of Bellefonte, Grandchildren, Emily (Jason) Caris, Jennifer (Keith) Mancia, Jaime (Amanda) Hoy, Vaughn Meyer Jr., Tadd Meyer, and Matthew Meyer, Great-grandchildren, Christian Meyer, Corrin Hoy, Bella Hoy, Chase Meyer, and Aiden Mancia. Along with his wife and parents he was preceded by a son, Richard "Rick" A. Meyer, Jr., Granddaughter, Michelle Meyer, Great-grandson, Wyatt Caris, Brother, Samuel Meyer, Sr. and Son-in-law, Bob Hoy.
Burial will be private at Snydertown Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, PA. 16841. Online condolences may be made at www.kader-neff.com
