Roger W. "Curly" Bechdel, 81,of Jersey Shore, formerly of Blanchard, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at home. He was born on January 12, 1939 in Eagleville, the son of the late William Harry and Edna Sarah DeHaas Bechdel.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Anna M. Etters on November 21, 1959, she survives at home.
He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
He was a machinist for Cerro Metals retiring after 23 years of service.
Roger was a member of Howard Area Lions Club. Curly played in several bands in the area including Denny Taylor and the Misfits. He had a true love for music and had played the guitar since he was a youth. He and his wife enjoyed camping for many years at the Hidden Valley Campground Resort in Mifflinburg, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and just being around people in general.
Along with his wife he is survived by two sons; Richard and Edward Bechdel, two daughters; Tammy Vonada Bechdel and Tina Bailey Bechdel, a sister; Carol Etters, two brothers; Hayes & Dennis Bechdel, 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Debra Boyce and Sandra Gates.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Howard with Zelma Lang officiating. Friends and family will be received from noon until the service. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery, Howard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, PO Box 108, Howard, Pa. 16841 to help the family with funeral expenses.
