Obituary

Shirley Bowmaster November 29,1935 – June 14, 2021

Shirley was born in Nittany, PA, the daughter of Harry and Edna (Rogers) Gates. She graduated from the Walker Township High School in 1953.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William Gates, H. Richard Gates and Earl Gates, her daughter Debra Decoursey, grandchildren Rebecca Keeler and Roy Simcisko, and great-grandchild Kelsie Ohmit.

She is survived by her siblings Doris Yearick and Dale Gates (Vickie), her children Sherrill Simcisko and Rick Bowmaster, 7 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

She enjoyed art, painting, music, writing poetry, and her kitties. She loved being a Mom and a Gram.

Shirley struggled her whole life with mental illness, with a system too short on resources. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to CentreHelps.org.

Arrangements are through Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard. A graveside service will be held at the Hublersburg Cemetery on June 26 at 11 am with a wake following at the Bald Eagle State Park, Pavilion 9 (opposite the beach).
