Walter H. Gunsallus, 79, of Altoona, and formerly of Beech Creek, passed away on Monday, Nov.21, 2022, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
He was born on March 26, 1943, a son of the late Harris and Betty Gardner Gunsallus. Walt was a truck driver for various trucking companies and would retire as an independent owner/operator after 50 years in trucking. He enjoyed playing guitar and playing in his band, "The Country Misfits". He enjoyed watching College football and above all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Melessa Bathurst and Meg (David) Leonard all of Altoona, a son, Clayton Hollabaugh of Duncansville, three brothers, Robert of Huntingdon, W.V., Donald of Orient, OH., and Richard Gunsallus of Erie, one sister, Linda Adams of Halifax and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merion "Carol" Baney, and his companion of many years, Betty Nace, and by two sons, Richard and Timothy Hollabaugh, a brother, Charles Gunsallus, and three sisters, Emma Schultz and Donna Jean Gunsallus, and Lucinda Aucker.
Per Walter's wishes there will be no services and burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, Howard.
