Alphonse Jacob Zimmerman, 85 of Bellefonte, departed this life on June 10, 2022 at Centre Care Nursing Home. He was born on December 09, 1936 in Shamokin, a son of the late Alphonse and Margaret A. Young Zimmerman. On January 13, 1963 he married Thursa M. Emberton who survives.
Their union was joined by four children, Rev. Tom (Twila), Rev. Terry (Patti) and Rev. Tim (Sarah) Zimmerman and Tina (Marvin) Meeker, eleven grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Bryan, Robyn, Erica, Timothy, Mary, Esther, Heather, Kyle, Matthew and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
He enjoyed cooking and gardening. He retired from Penn State University in 1991 after 27 years of service.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 - 11:00 prior to the service on Tuesday at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his son Rev. Terry Zimmerman and Rev. Kenneth Walter officiating. Burial will be at the Advent Cemetery with Military Rites.
