Betty R. Knecht, 95 of Juniper Village of State College, formerly of Zion, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born on December 15, 1926 in Mingoville, Pa. the daughter of the late Earl David & Catharine Pearl Shuey Harter.
On November 4, 1945 she was united in marriage to Clair N. Knecht who preceded her in death on November 20, 2011.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of the Howard High School. She was a homemaker and also worked on the family farm and later in life worked at the PSU food service retiring 1986.
She was a member of the U.C.C., now called the Trinity Reformed Church of Hublersburg. She loved bowling, cards and boardgames and spending time with family. She spent 21 winters in Punta Gorda, Fl. She enjoyed traveling after her retirement.
She is survived by one son, William L. (Pegge) Knecht of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C., two brothers, Charles W. (Connie) Harter & Donald W. (Fadra) Harter, two sisters, Mary H. Yearick, Evaline C. Ishler, four grandchildren, William E. (Alena) Knecht, Jennifer M. (Joe) Cardello, Troy A. (Shelly) Knecht & Clair N. Knecht II, eight great-grandchildren, Olivia S. Knecht , Hannah G. Knecht, Madison E. Cardello, Marino A. Cardello, Mateo W. Cardello, Hannah M., Grace & Faith Knecht and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son Earl N. Knecht, one daughter, Janet M. Knecht, four brothers, Elmer L., Earl E., Melvin P., & Harold R. Harter, a sister Gladys Weight Miller and a great-grandson Craig Knecht.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville.
