Robert Earl “Bob” Leathers, Jr, 62, took the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and entered into heavenly rest on Friday, February 5, 2021. Born on October 30, 1958, in Lock Haven, he was the son of Gertrude (Lynch) Leathers of Salona and the late Robert E. Leathers, Sr. On June 13, 1980, he married Debra A. Vermeulen who survives at home.
Bob was a 1977 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He entered the United States Air Force in August 1977 and retired in 1997 after 20 years of service. He earned the rank of TSGT and earned a BS in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Aerospace Physiology while serving. He held several positions in the Air Force, like the Independent Duty Medical Technician. He retired as the Non Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of The Surgery Clinic at Travis AFB, CA.
Bob was a member of the Big Woods Bible Church in Lock Haven. He had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He was a collector of guitars and could fix and play most in his collection. He was a real people person, loved being around his family and friends especially cooking on the BBQ grill and sitting around the fire pit.
Along with his Wife and Mother, Bob is survived by son: Robert Earl Leathers, III of Mill Hall; daughter: Jessica L. Grubb-Leathers (AJ) of Louisiana; and two grandchildren: Lincoln Kellas and Kayley Leathers.
Along with his father, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters: Gayle Geraty and Patricia Bartholomew.
Private graveside services will be held at Schenck’s Cemetery in Howard. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be announced later this year.
